SportTuned Mk4 1.8T Downpipe

Of course, there are other 1.8T downpipes on the market, but we felt the
others weren't good enough for us to sell. One of the main issues we have with other
downpipes on the market is the catalytic convertor many use: a conventional ceramic substrate cat.
VW hasn't used a ceramic cat for many, many years, and never used it on a VR6,
G60, or 1.8T model...why? Because there's something better: a metal substrate cat.
Metal cats flow incredibly well, because they have almost no frontal area
(the area that the exhaust gas must pass by), compared to ceramic-based cats. Also,
ceramic cats cannot hold a candle to a metal cat when subjected to the high
temperatures that a turbo emits. Bottom line, you won't find a better catalyst
than the one that's already on your VW. So why pay for a downpipe with a low-tech
catalyst that is not emissions legal?
Our downpipe is a direct replacement for the front section of the stock
downpipe. Fitment to your car requires that your stock catalyst be cut off the
downpipe and welded to the SportTuned version. A very simple operation for most
muffler shops and 100% legal. We include measurements for the process.
Constructed entirely of T304 Stainless, our 2.5-inch SportTuned Downpipe is a
street legal way to get a great power gain, especially on cars that have maxxed
out their bolt-on options and are still looking for more power. Gains on stock
cars with stock exhausts are around 3-4 hp, but with a more boost and a bigger
exhaust, gains can be much higher, as much as 10-15hp.
Kit includes turbo to downpipe gasket.

Autotech Tri-Y Headers
For those who desire a classic tubular header, the Autotech header has all the
features that you'll need. It has been proven in dynamometer testing to improve
the power output of even stock engines; as well as help the performance of fully
modified powerplants. The 4-into-2-into-1 "Tri-Y" design allows the optimum in
scavenging effect. Designed to improve low and mid-range performance immensely, while
quickening throttle response. All Autotech Headers offer these advantages:
- Heavy 14 gauge steel tubing throughout
- 1-piece head flange for proper sealing at the head
- Laser-cut head flanges for superior fit
- Built-in flex joints for durability
- Mitre cut primary-to-secondary merges used for superior flow over cheaper 2-1 collectors

Here's a detail of what a mitre-cut merge looks like. Extra labor going into
the making of this pays off in performance.
All Autotech Headers come complete with metal faced OEM gaskets, hardware and instructions.
SportTuning Tip: Check Your Engine Mounts
Before ordering one of your hand-crafted headers, make sure to check the condition of your car's engine mounts.
Headers, in general, are more sensitive to engine alignment than the factory
manifold/downpipe, so proper engine position is crucial to insure hassle-free
performance. If your car has a broken or worn engine mount, the motor may sag from
side to side or from front to rear, preventing the header from correctly
fastening to the exhaust system, or causing it to rub against other
components. If the car has accumulated high mileage, or is driven hard, we
recommend that you invest in new performance
engine mounts or OE replacement mounts.

Mk2 Chassis
A superior quality Tri-Y header for catalyst equipped Mk2 chassis vehicles.
Features like our mitre-cut merges and 1-piece Laser-cut head flange are retained
from our Mk1 chassis header. Heavy 14 gauge tubing is used as well. This header
is now titanium ceramic coated for better heat retention and durability and
aesthetics. Our header replaces the stock manifold and downpipe, bolting directly to
the catalytic convertor. Provision is made for all emissions equipment. Provides
gains of up to 10 horsepower, depending on model and engine type.
Mk2
16V
Autotech's Tri-Y application for the Mk2 chassis cars with either the 1.8L or
2.0 L 16V. Features the same bulletproof design as our 8V Mk2 header, and is also
titanium ceramic coated. Quicker throttle response and a gain of up to 7 horsepower over stock.
Works great in conjunction with our

Flow Catalytic Convertor.

Direct-Fit: Golf 2 1988-92 with PF engine; Golf 2 1990-92 CA only RV engine; Jetta 2 1985-92 with RD, PF engines.
Adapted Fit: All other Golf 2 and Jetta 2 models can be fitted with the header
when used with the bolt-on style, large inlet catalytic convertor,
10.131.22915 or 10.131.22920
and must also use Autotech adaptor kit 10.251.198K, including the correct metal seal ring and
longer flange bolts.

Mk1 Chassis
Mk1 Tri-Y Header
Autotech's Mk1 Tri-Y Header has served the test of time. With over 15 years of
production behind it, it has become a benchmark of performance and value. Strong
mid-range gains and a healthy top-end are its signature. Provision for all emissions
equipment is standard.
Fits 1975-89 8V Rabbit, Scirocco, and Jetta 1. Does not
fit 1990-93 Cabriolet.
Works great in conjunction with our

1990-1993 Cabriolets feature a unique one-piece downpipe/catalytic convertor that does not allow for a
bolt-on installation of the Autotech Tri-Y header. To use the Tri-Y header and retain a catalytic convertor
on these models, Autotech’s High Flow Catalytic Convertor
part number 10.131.22918 and Cat-Back Exhaust System
part number 10.297.205K must be installed in addition.

SportTuned Mk1 Downpipe
This high flowing dual downpipe is designed to fit catalyst-equipped Mk1
Chassis cars with 8V engines from 1976 through 1989. Constructed of heavy 14
gauge steel, it features a 3 layer collar-joint to absorb vibration. This
downpipe mounts to early U.S. twin-outlet exhaust manifolds found on 1975 through
1981 cars. It is designed to directly replace the OE downpipe and flextube.
Comes with metal-faced gaskets and hardware. Power gain is from 5 to 8
horsepower, depending on model.

SportTuned Stainless Exhaust Studs
Autotech offers a cure for your broken, rusty exhaust stud headaches; our own
stainless steel exhaust studs! These make a great upgrade on any VW (perfect when
changing your manifold/header). These very high quality studs are made from 303
stainless material. The threads are rolled, ensuring greater strength. M8x30.
Our SS studs are designed to fit nearly every watercooled engine application, from
