Autotech offers a complete line of pistons for both standard replacement and performance applications.  Only the highest quality pistons are chosen to ensure strength and durability.  Autotech features forged pistons from JE and original style cast pistons from the two largest OE suppliers in Germany, Mahle & Kolbenschmidt.

Piston Terminology:

JE Forged Piston Sets

Autotech's SportTuned Forged Piston Sets are manufactured to our specifications by industry leader JE Pistons and are forged from a special alloy.  This alloy, combined with a unique barrel-shaped skirt, allows for incredibly tight piston-to-cylinderwall clearances (0.0025").  This eliminates the oil blow-by problems experienced with other forged piston types, making JE Pistons not only strong and lightweight, but also ideal for street use.

All piston sets are offered complete with appropriate rings, wrist pins & clips.  Don't be fooled by others seemingly lower prices, as most of our competitors simply list the piston price only and charge much more for the rings, pins and clips.

Forged Piston Sets for VW 2.0T

Forged Piston Sets for VW/Audi 1.8T

For all VW Golf 4, Jetta 4, New Beetle and Audi A4 & TT models using 1.8T engines. Designed to retain stock 86.4mm crank stroke and 144mm connecting rod length. Available in std. or larger bore sizes to increase displacement.  Also available with low & high compression ratios depending on boost levels used. Piston weights range from 300-310 grams!

Forged Piston Sets for 1992-99 VR6

These piston sets increase displacement from 2.8L to 2.9L or 3.0L for all 1992-1999 Mk3 Golf GTI, Jetta GLX, Corrado SLC & B4 Passat GLX models using the VR6 AAA engine.  Designed to retain the stock 86.4mm crank stroke and 164mm connecting rod length.  Stock 10:1 compression ratio best suited for normally aspirated engines and nitrous motors. Lower 9:1 compression ratio ideal for forced induction (turbocharged or supercharged) applications.  Piston weights range from 296-311 grams!

Forged Piston Sets for 1993-99 2.0L 8V

These are standard and oversized bore pistons for the 2.0L 8V ABA motor found in 1993-1999 Golf & Jettas.  Designed to retain the stock 92.8mm crank stroke and 160mm connecting rod length.  9.6:1 CR pistons can be used in normally aspirated and turbocharged engines. Higher 10.5:1 CR pistons suitable for normally aspirated engines only. Piston weights range from 252-258 grams!

Forged Piston Set for 1989-91 1.8L G60

Oversize piston set specially designed for the supercharged PG motor found in Corrado G60s.  Designed to retain the stock 86.4mm crank stroke and 136mm connecting rod length.  Compression ratio is 8:1. Increased displacement provides for a nice horsepower and torque bump.

Forged Piston Sets for Audi 80 2.0L 8V (3A) and 1.8L Engines

Oversize piston sets specially designed for the 3A "bubble block" used in Audi 80 models.  For use with VW's 92.8mm crankshaft and 144mm rods, these pistons can also be used when boring and stroking a 1.8L engine.  Stock 10.5:1 compression ratio best suited for normally aspirated engines and nitrous motors. Lower 9:1 compression ratio ideal for forced induction (turbocharging or supercharging) applications. These are the same 8V pistons used in our SportTuned 2.0L Engine Kits for 1.8L engines.

Forged Piston Sets for 2.0L Engines w/ 95.5mm Crankshaft

Special piston sets designed for 2.0L 8V & 16V "bubble" blocks.  Large 83.5mm bore pistons are used in conjunction with a 95.5mm crankshaft and either 144mm or 160mm connecting rods (depending on application).  High compression ratios for normally aspirated engines only.  These are the same pistons as used in our SportTuned 2.0L to 2.1L Engine Kits.

Forged Piston Set for 1983-1992 1.8L 8V

This 2mm overbore piston set upgrades the 1.8L (1781cc) 8V motor to 1.9L (1869cc) specs. A 10 horsepower increase, coupled with a dramatic increase in low-end torque, makes this piston set worth its weight in gold. Designed to retain the stock 86.4mm crank and 144mm connecting rods. 10.5:1 CR best suited for use on knock-sensor equipped models..

Mahle/Kolbenschmidt Cast Piston Sets

Cast Piston Sets for 1983-92 1.8L 8V

A 10:1 compression piston originally used in the Golf 2 GTI (RD engine).  It is recommended that octane booster, higher grade fuel than pump gas, or ultimately a knock-sensor ignition be used with any compression ratio over 9.5:1 in an early VW 8V engine.  For use with stock 86.4mm crank stroke & 144mm rod length.  Not suited for forced induction or nitrous applications. Imported from Germany.
