The sport driving enthusiast should be interested in knowing what's going on with his engine at all times. The standard "idiot" light included on most cars is just not sufficient enough for performance applications. By the time the light comes on, especially in a sport tuned engine, it may be too late. Don't take chances, get some cheap insurance in the form of good monitoring equipment.

VDO has always been known as a maker of fine gauges for both the aftermarket and for original equipment in many German cars. We carry both the Cockpit and Vision gauge styles, the most popular VDO applications.

Gauge Styles

COCKPIT

The most popular VDO style. Cockpit design gauges closely match those found in the console on Rabbit GTI, Jetta GLI, Scirocco, Cabriolet and Wolfsburg edition model Volkswagens. White characters on a black face with red pointer. 360º perimeter illumination.

VISION

Innovative VDO design resembling Cockpit style, but features backlit, translucent characters and a red fiber-optic pointer on a matte black face. Illumination can be changed from white to green or red with the included diffusers. New Spin-Lok mounting.

Gauge Kits

Autotech has simplified gauge ordering for you. When you buy a Gauge Kit, it comes complete with the gauge, sender (if required), and wiring. All gauges and senders packaged in our kits are available individually. Please feel free to call with your requirements.

Oil Pressure

VW kit comes with gauge, dual-pole sender, and wiring. Electric pressure sender supplied is a special "dual" type, with terminals for both the gauge and the stock warning light. The 1.8T and VR6 kits contain gauge, single-pole sender, wiring, and special mounting adaptors for sending unit fitment. 16V cars use the VW kit, but also require an additional adaptor for mounting the sender, sold separately.

Oil Temperature

We supply a factory style sender designed to fit into the oil filter mount or cylinder head. This provides a more realistic temp reading than an oil drain plug sender, which also must be dealt with each time oil is changed. Sender thread is M10x1. Our kit for the Mk3 VR6 models includes adaptor pieces to locate the sender away from interfering components.

Voltmeter

We prefer to use a voltmeter rather than an ammeter because they're much easier to install. A voltmeter can provide valuable insight into your car's electrical system. Gauge comes with wiring kit. Reads from 8 to 16 volts.
