Sport
Designed to push a car's suspension to its performance peak, these shocks are
designed for lowered springs. The shortened stroke of the Sport ensures
proper spring preload and correct positioning of the suspension's travel
range. Sport valving for the Mk1 Chassis is much firmer than HD. The Mk2 and Mk3
Sports have the same valving as the comparable HD, but feature the shorter
shafts best for sport springs. Limited lifetime warranty. Priced individually.

SPORTTUNING TIP: COMMON MYTHS and misunderstandings ABOUT GAS SHOCKS
1. High pressure gas shocks are stiffer than low pressure shocks.
Wrong.
When it comes to stiffness, whether the shock is high or low
pressurized makes no difference. Just as in a conventional
hydraulic shock, the valving of the shock and oil viscosity are
what determine how stiff (or soft) a shock is.
2. Gas shocks wear out faster.
Wrong.
A high quality gas shock is designed with superior seals and
will generally outlast a conventional hydraulic shock by many times.
3. Gas shocks raise your car's ride height.
Yes and no.
Because of the design of gas shocks, nearly all of them do affect the car's ride
height somewhat. Some gas shocks raise the car more than others.
All of our suspension systems are designed with gas shocks in mind.

BOGE Progas
The progas is a unique two-stage performance shock. Its unique design
offers two distinct "zones" of dampening:
Comfort and Power. The Comfort zone is provided for standard springs and
relatively light car loads. The Power zone is designed for sport driving, or when
large loads are carried. The switchover between Comfort and Power zones is done
automatically inside the shock, according to road and load conditions. We have found
these shocks to be ideal for use with most sport springs. The ride quality is
remarkably good, while providing excellent dampening characteristics when pushed to the limit.

don't recommend turbogas for lowered Mk1 or Mk2 chassis cars, the BOGE turbogas

Stock Upper Strut Bearings
When you change your springs or shocks, and your VW has more than 40,000 miles on
its front upper strut bearings, Autotech recommends that they be replaced. Since
the struts must be disassembled for spring or shock installation, this would be an
ideal time to make the swap (no additional labor involved). Autotech sells German
made, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) strut bearings for your VW.
The wearing parts in the multi-piece bearings used in all VR6 and all 1996 and
later vehicles can be replaced without having to replace the entire assemblies.
Our kit replaces the rubber support and the bearing only.

VR6 Strut Bearing Conversion

All Mk2 Chassis cars and pre-1996 Mk3 Chassis cars with 4-cylinder engines can
upgrade to the stronger VR6 strut bearings with a minimum of hassle. We supply you
with all the necessary parts so that VR6 bearings can be mounted on any Mk2 or Mk3
4-cylinder, regardless of the brand of shock you are using. Sold in pairs.
Note: fitting a ClubSport® Suspension kit into a 1993-95 4-cylinder
Mk3 Chassis model will require our strut bearing/spring retainer upgrade

Mk2 Camber Bolt Set
