Autotech's CNC machined Aluminum Flywheels are crafted from 6061 aluminum blanks. If you're looking for an extra edge at the track, or constantly pushing the limits of your car's abilities, then you should think about stepping up to our Aluminum Flywheel. Our Aluminum Flywheels are different from the competition because they are NOT simply built to be the lightest flywheels on the planet, sacrificing all for bragging rights to the lightest VW flywheel madeā Some of the competition's ultra lightweight aluminum flywheels can actually be too light. There are a few downsides to this, most notably: making it difficult to get the car rolling (no inertia!) from a standstill.We optimized the design to benefit from added inertial drop without throwing the drivability out the window at the same time, a common shortcoming of many other aluminum flywheels. Our Aluminum Flywheels weigh just over 9 lbs. with the starter ring gear installed. The friction surface is a high quality, alloy steel that is treated with a liquid nitriding process called MeloniteĢ. The MeloniteĢ process minimizes distortion and keeps dimensional changes to a minimum, while drastically increasing fatigue strength. As a result, the friction ring exhibits exceptional long-term resistance to wear, seizure, scuffing, adhesion and fatigue. Our Aluminum Flywheels includes new starter ring gear, flywheel & pressure plate bolts. It is designed to work and has been extensively tested with SACHS stock & competition pressure plates and discs.
